Habitat Happenings March 2020

Dear Habitat Friends,

As I sit in my new office (aka the kitchen table) working alongside my new co-worker (aka my husband Andy) I have to say that I really miss going into my office to work. Andy is on his second conference call and he reheated fish for lunch. The dogs are whining, and I am fighting the urge to clean the baseboards in my sight line. I currently have the theme song from Aladdin, “It’s a Whole New World” running in my head, which is better than Ozzy’s “Bat Out of Hell” that kept me from falling asleep last night!

All joking aside, I want to take a moment to say, from the bottom of my heart, that I am so grateful to have a community of people who are fundamentally decent. Speaking on behalf of our Board of Directors and my fellow employees, I want you to know how much we value you in this moment. If you are receiving this letter, you have either given your time, money, or both to help us build decent affordable housing for our neighbors in Carroll County.

As I reflect on the massive changes that have completely turned us upside down and inside out, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Bryan, Scott, Michele, and I are working from home, but if you’d like to have a “virtual coffee” just reach out. I’ve discovered that Zoom has a feature that makes me look better, but don’t judge if I am still wearing pajamas at 2:00 in the afternoon!

We are currently working on opening our first ReStore and building our LEED Gold Certified Duplex in Taneytown. If you have the means to donate to Habitat, we would be grateful. Your assistance is vital in fulfilling our mission to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Thank you all again for your support, and for also keeping us in your thoughts and prayers!

Sincerely,

Stephanie
