Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County Dedicates Its 14th Home
Westminster, MD — October 2, 2025— Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County is proud to announce the dedication of its 14th home, located at 164 S Court Street in Westminster, MD. The new homeowners, Skylar Porter and her two children, Brelynn (8) and Cameron (10), celebrated the milestone surrounded by family, friends, volunteers, and community partners.
Skylar shared what this moment means for her family:
“Today, we can focus on more than just survival. We can build a life. My children now have a quiet place to study, play, and feel safe—and I know the stability of this home is giving them the foundation they need to succeed. I want to thank Habitat for Humanity—and everyone involved—for making this dream of homeownership a reality.”
Dave Bond, President of the Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County Board of Directors, added:
“This home is more than walls—it’s hope and stability for the Porter family. Habitat is proud to stand alongside them as they step into a brighter future.”
The dedication was made possible thanks to the generosity of sponsors and community partners, including Continuing Care Actuaries, Bank of America, and 84 Lumber.
Scott Swartz, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County, reflected on the impact of the build:
“Every Habitat home is a testament to the power of community. Together, we are breaking cycles of housing insecurity and creating lasting change.”
