Taneytown, MD – June 11, 2024 – Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County is thrilled to announce the completion of a new LEED-certified duplex in Taneytown, providing safe, sustainable housing for two deserving families. This project marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to create affordable housing solutions in our community.
The new duplex will be home to two single mothers and their families, offering them a fresh start and the stability they need to thrive. This project exemplifies our commitment to building environmentally friendly homes that not only benefit our homeowners but also contribute to the overall health of our planet.
The success of this project would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, including the Wells Fargo Foundation, Bank of America, State Farm, Planted Earth Landscaping, Truist Foundation, 84 Lumber, DeVere Insulation, Mr. Harold Dorsey, Shelter Systems Limited, and Ruff Roofers. Their contributions were instrumental in bringing this vision to life, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to help us build this home. Your hard work and dedication have made a profound impact on the lives of these families and the entire Taneytown community.
“This new duplex is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the impact of sustainable building practices,” said Scott Swartz, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County. “We are incredibly proud to provide these families with a safe and energy-efficient home, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to this project.”
A dedication ceremony will be held on June 13th at 4:00PM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran located at 38 W. Baltimore St. Taneytown, MD 21787. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to tour the homes, located at 318 East Baltimore Street in Taneytown.
We invite the community to join us in celebrating this achievement and welcoming the new homeowners to their beautiful, new, and sustainable home.
