New Windsor, MD, June 15, 2005 — To commemorate “50 years of building success,” Universal Forest Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI) announced today that it is making a $1,000 cash donation to the Carroll County Habitat for Humanity on behalf of the company’s plant in New Windsor, MD. Steve Benko, general manager of operations for the plant, presented a check to Jeremy Cooper, president, and Doug Corbin, treasurer, of Carroll County Habitat for Humanity, on Thursday, May 19, 2005. The presentation took place at Universal Forest Products in New Windsor, MD.

The New Windsor donation is part of Universal’s commitment to the 86 communities across North America where the company has operations. Universal recently announced its intent to mark its 50th anniversary with the donations, as well as additional donations of material and time to Habitat for Humanity affiliates in these communities. “For 50 years we have been building our success in towns across America,” said Universal CEO and Vice Chairman William G. Currie. “We are grateful to New Windsor and the many other communities we call home, and we want to see them continue to grow and prosper.”

"We have found a tremendous partner in Carroll County,” said Doug Corbin, CPA, Habitat treasurer. “Together, Universal Forest Products and Habitat can help to bring the dream of homeownership to Carroll residents."

“Habitat helps to build opportunity for people in the neighborhoods where our employees live. It’s also a great match for Universal’s products and services, and offers us the opportunity to build a strong and new partnership,” said Benko. “We are happy to contribute to Habitat’s substantial efforts in the New Windsor area.”
